Reds defeat the Guardians 4-0.

In the first Spring Training game of the season between the Cincinnati Reds and the Cleveland Guardians, the Reds emerged victorious with a commanding 4-0 win.

The Reds got off to a strong start with Carson Spiers taking the mound. Spiers showcased his prowess by throwing two impressive innings, striking out four batters and issuing zero walks, setting a tone of precision and control for the Reds' pitching staff.

Offensively, the Reds demonstrated their firepower early on, with Elly De La Cruz debuting a new batting stance and making an impact with an opposite-field single in the first inning. The momentum continued in the fourth inning when Will Benson unleashed a towering drive, giving the Reds a 2-0 lead. Benson's majestic BOMB was accompanied by a moment of admiration as he watched the ball sail all the way to California.

After the game, Benson shared his insight, expressing his confidence, saying, "I knew the angle right away," highlighting his intuition and skill at the plate.

"What a great swing," Reds manager David Bell said. "He's playing with a lot of confidence already in Spring Training. It's great to have it show up in a game."

The Reds extended their lead in the eighth inning when former top 30 prospect Tyler Callihan delivered a clutch two-run home run, solidifying the Reds' 4-0 advantage, a lead they would maintain until the final out.

The Reds' pitching staff shined throughout the game, amassing a total of 10 strikeouts and impressively issuing no walks, showcasing their dominance on the mound.

Contributions weren't limited to the pitching and hitting departments alone, as TJ Friedl, Bubba Thompson, Michael Trautwein, and Josh Harrison all added hits to the Reds' offensive arsenal.

Looking ahead, the Reds are set to face off against the Angels tomorrow at 3:05 Eastern Time. Hunter Greene, Brandon Williamson, and Tejay Antone are all expected to pitch.
